"Lilly of the Valley was inspired by me getting shocked by an electric fence on the farm where our practice house is located. I was feeling rather pitiful and wasn't very mindful of my surroundings, trudging up and down rows of vegetables, sulking. I reached out and grabbed what I thought was a long thin stalk of grain and felt a big ZAP which put me on the ground. Lying there I finally realized what a beautiful day it was, with dragon flies and soft white moths dancing in the sky above me, I was renewed with the realization that I allowed my negative mood to cloud over me and I was taking too much for granted. "I am alive" I thought, and if nothing else, no one can take these experiences my memories away from me. A portion of this song was written in direct response to being asked to write more "pretty" or "catchy" songs. Realizing that this was my life, my one chance to find and live my truth. It was art, my passion, and I didn't have to cater or answer to anyone (Lyrics - Now nothing's ever gonna bring me down, lightning struck electric shock, I am the leader now! And I cant let my worst prevent me from my best. I cannot let my fear of failure put my dreams to rest. I'll make it clear that I'm not here to write you pretty songs, so try to see the bigger picture I’ve been leaning on - to find truth in madness, and beauty in darkness).

I just wanted to explore the darker things and find softness in sharp edges. I wanted to share my outlook with the world and I never want to write a song that doesn't reflect my truth. Ever."
